I am having such fun with two FB correspondents on religious issues. Both claim to be US-type Christians, thus believing that the Bible is the word of God and must be followed.
1. One is highly critical of Barack Obama, calling him everything but President. I asked whether judging a person in the manner he was doing was frowned upon by the following from the Bible:
In Matthew 7:1-2, Jesus says, “Judge not, or you too will be judged.
For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the
measure you use, it will be measured to you."
His defense was that he has repented and adopted Jesus as his personal savior, thus giving him the absolute right to judge Barack Obama. And, while not relevant, he did throw in that Obama was a "false god."
2. The second, a preacher of some sort in Caswell County, claims that he "knows" that God exists. It is not merely his belief or faith, but knowledge in the empirical sense.
When I challenged how he could empirically know, he replied that God had spoken to him, and that he would pray for me. His friend chimed in and criticized me for not being logical.
